I want to start off by telling you a little about myself. I grew up just outside of Okawville with my parents, older sister and younger brother. I went to Immanuel Lutheran School and then attended Okawville High School. After high school, I went to Illinois State University where I graduated with my bachelors of Science in ElementaryEducation. I specialized in language arts and social studies. After college I moved back to Okawville, and started my first job at Red Bud Elementary as a sixth grade teacher. I also took classes to earn my Master’s degree in Elementary Education. I am happy to say that this is my sixth year teaching at Oakdale Grade School! Besides teaching, I also enjoy many other activities. My husband John, sons Landon and Benson, and I love to go on walks, swimming, and bike riding in the summer. We also love to go camping with our friends and family. I especially enjoy sitting around the campfire. When I am not busy with one of these activities I love to read, and I will tell you later about some of the great books I read this summer. After an enjoyable summer I am ready for the new school year and I can’t wait to see all of you! Some of you I know, but others will be new faces! I hope that you are all excited and ready to enter the fifth and sixth grade. I also want to prepare you for some changes that will be happening this school year. First off, coming into fifth grade is a big change and requires much responsibility. It is an important year and a big change, but with some organization and responsibility I know you will do great!
Sincerely, Mrs. Elliott
